I keep hearing people say 'we're losing America because we turned our back on God!' The facts indicate otherwise.
Up until quite recently the vast majority of people taking America to hell in a handbasket (mostly Dems) profess to be believers. The pols that led us into endless wars and financial ruin were Christians one and all. We see a ton of Christian churches catering to leftist ideas and society-destroying dogma. On the flipside there's plenty of patriotic, moral people who aren't believers.
The usual response in regard to bad Christian leaders is 'well, they aren't REAL Christians!' In the past these same people insisted that ‘America is 90+% Christian!' So I guess whether these miscreants are real Christians or faux Christians depends upon which point you're debating at the moment. An oh-so-convenient double standard.
The bottom line is that suggesting that faith in God is a magic fix for everything wrong with America is clearly bullshit. Adherence to the principles of our Founding Fathers, who clearly and repeatedly stated that those natural law principles didn't depend upon religion, is what's actually needed. Falsely attacking non-believers as the cause of all problems is just another form of the division among us that our enemy revels in. It's sanctimonious, arrogant, conceited and in the religious context, it's a sin that does the work of the Devil. It's the exact same brand of religious bigotry exhibited by those who attack people for their religious belief.
We need every patriot we can get on our side in this culture war. Driving away non-believers isn't a winning strategy. We can respect all patriots as good, moral warriors in our army regardless of their religious convictions, or lack thereof. Just as our Founding Fathers did before us.
